Minecraft for the Appstore?

Posted on by RRain in Apple, Apps, iPhone 4 | Leave a comment

Particularly after its beta release, minecraft’s user base has grown exponentially, and because of this there were always talks of it being ported to platforms other than the PC. Both the PSP Go and the Xbox 360 welcomed the arcade game, and there has been widespread rumors of minecraft going on the Appstore. So far there has been an unofficial release of a version of the game, this was NOT released by notch, or anyone related to the mojang team. Notch was well aware of this and on twitter said that himself  and mojang were in no way connected to the release, but it was quickly pulled off. Notch hasn’t denied a future release but hasn’t conformed one, and I think that this leaving the door open definitely hints towards iPhone, iPad and iPod touch having access to Minecraft through the Appstore in the future. Perhaps after it has settled in well on the Xbox and PSP Go? Or maybe Mojang are waiting till the final release of the game is ready or even waiting for the iPhone 5’s release?  If we do ever see Minecraft on the Appstore, we can definitely expect Mojang to cut back on a few features, though I think playing creative will still be bearable. The picture simply a concept, but could be a very real possibility with thumb areas for moving and placing blocks and somewhere to tap on the screen to change blocks? The rumors will continue to flood the internet, and it looks like Mojang will continue to play it cool and keep quiet. What do you think, would you like to see Minecraft on the Appstore?

Google Chrome becomes second most popular browser in the UK

Google’s web browser, Chrome, has become the second most popular browser behind Internet Explorer, according to the web metrics company Statcounter.

Firefox was previously in second place, but Chrome’s exceptional form of late has brought it to 22.12% market share in the UK, while Firefox’s is at 21.65%. Internet Explorer still holds 45.51% of the browser use in the UK, but has steadily been declining. As Chrome becomes increasingly more popular, it will soon become harder for its competitors to keep up. [via mashable]
